One of the clearest current trends addresses the topic of convenience. More and more single or small households are turning to pre-packaged meals, and preferably in smaller packaging. Meals and snacks for the microwave or the toaster reflect this trend. Additionally, quality, a great choice and good taste are important to today’s consumers when it comes to convenience foods.
Schubert can also confirm the trend towards small portion packs. “Manufacturers have to offer their products to the market in small packaging units,” explains Gerald Schubert. Implementing this into production can be complex, since the packaging line has to cope with high quantities and often unusual packaging designs. “Our TLM system components ensure optimal system efficiency for these types of packaging challenges,” says Gerald Schubert. Through the use of interchangeable tools, the TLM packaging machine can be converted to a variety of pack formats in just a few minutes. This ensures a high level of freedom in packaging layout and the greatest possible flexibility when it comes to product changeovers.
The Transmodul is at the heart of the solution. This rail-based, single-axle transport robot can be used, for example, as a transport carriage for products and boxes in standard TLM machines or picker lines – enabling customers to design their packaging processes for portion packs as efficiently as possible.
