Schubert System Elektronik develops new HMI Hygienic Line

Preventing contamination and impurities: In some sectors, such as the food and pharmaceutical industries, the technology used is subject to very specific hygienic requirements. With this in mind, Schubert System Elektronik has now developed the new HMI Hygienic Line – an HMI that enables users to communicate with machines or systems. The industry-proven, all-in-one solution meets the highest protection standards and is available to users in a range of variants.

50 Years of Innovation in Industrial Computer Technology

For more than 50 years, Schubert System Elektronik GmbH has been developing industrial computer technology for sophisticated applications – for Gerhard Schubert packaging machines, medical technology or the food and beverage industry. The solutions engineered in Neuhausen ob Eck, Germany, are as versatile as they are high-performance and include, for instance, sensor systems for tool monitoring in the machine, industrial web panels for visualising automation processes, industrial PCs and touch monitors.

Design development in accordance with EHEDG guidelines

The Schubert subsidiary has recently expanded its portfolio to include a stainless-steel HMI from the new ‘HMI Hygienic Line’. With this innovation, customers benefit from a robust touchscreen that meets the most stringent protection standards – making it ideal for use in demanding production environments and hygienically sensitive areas such as the pharmaceutical and food industries. Norbert Hubov, Key Account Manager at Schubert System Elektronik, explains: “Our new HMI Hygienic Line is an industry-proven, all-in-one solution. All components, including the hardware and the display, are contained in a sterile stainless-steel housing. This way, users benefit from a space-saving, modular design.”

When developing the new HMI Hygienic Line, Schubert System Elektronik prioritised a clear and EHEDG-compliant design language. Norbert Hubov explains: “The abbreviation EHEDG stands for European Hygienic Engineering & Design Group. The organisation supports companies in the food industry to ensure high-quality equipment for safe food production. Since our customers package food, the EHEDG guidelines are mandatory for us.”

The new HMI meets the highest protection standards to ensure that it will function faultlessly for many years and withstand harsh environmental conditions. These include the IP69 classification, which certifies that the device is waterproof and pressure-waterproof. The IK09 ensures extremely high impact resistance. The HMI also features a touch functionality that is shatter-resistant while delivering strong computing performance.

The modular HMI Hygienic Line is available in different versions for various industries. This allows users to select between a simple display on a dashboard with a touch monitor or a high-end panel PC with an Intel Core i7 processor for demanding applications.
