At ProSweets 2020 in Cologne, Heiko Burkhardt from Schubert-Consulting gave a lecture on “High Speed Packaging of Snacks – without Buffering Systems. Improved Process Flow in Packaging of Snacks” and presented the latest developments and concepts for economical packaging of food. After illustrating the characteristics of production and packaging of confectionery and snacks, concepts were shown as to how these challenges can be met with flexible machines, packaging centers and redundant manufacturing concepts. The process flow and the manufacturing costs can be optimized by a holistic process analysis “from dough making to pallet” and with innovative approaches – and there is further potential to meet the requirements of flexible production.
